At Summit we are very focused on ensuring we maintain a strong sense of stewardship over the resources with which we have been blessed. Scripture commands that we care for those who are in greatest need... "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." ~ James 1:27. The bible also commands us to make disciples of all the nations, teaching them and baptizing them. Therefore, we have created a few specialized ministries tasked with the responsibility of meeting the needs of those who require assistance both inside and outside our community.
The Western Maine Homeless Outreach is an organization we have partnered with to help those who are experiencing housing insecurity. This is a multi-bed facility currently in operation in the town of Farmington. Several of our members serve in volunteer positions as well as paid staff. We are also actively involved in fundraising and providing financial assistance to this organization.
The Deacon's Fund was created to provide financial assistance to individuals or families experiencing financial need. The fund was establish to primarily assist those who were covenanted with Summit as members, though we have at times extended assistance to those outside the church.
Additionally, the church is extremely active in sponsoring a number of missionaries and mission agencies around the globe.
